The magnificent Tina Turner graced the cover of Vogue Germany's April 2013 issue and sets the record for being the oldest women to be on the cover. 73 years old and looking fierce in a blue Armani gown (styled by Nichola Knels), Turner has proven that age is only a number and she only gets better with time.
Its such an inspiration to see someone as iconic as Tina Turner on the cover of such a highly respected magazine. It makes my heart smile even more knowing that she's 73 and is getting the opportunity to do this. She's come so far and has done so much, and I'm happy that her talents are still recognized in so many ways. Although I am only 20 yrs old, I have an old soul. All of the women in my family instilled the amazing music from the 70's, 80's, and early 90's in me and I was forever intrigued. I grew up Loving Lionel Richie (thinking I was going to marry him someday lol) and singing his songs along with Whitney Houston and many others. And I can say that at a young age I truly respected and admired them. Of course I had no idea what heartbreak and real love was. I had no idea of what it meant to "Give him something he can feel" or what it meant to be "Rolling on the river". But I knew what I felt. And I felt good, and that's all that mattered. Its so refreshing to see someone who's music I used to sing along to as a young girl, be shown in such a beautiful light in the way I looked at her when I was a young girl.
She is still simply the best! and always will be an idol of mine.
Congratulations Tina Turner!
