Growing up I was always told that you should NEVER walk out of the house in your pj's. And as I got older, I grew to understand why. Its always been looked at as tacky and lazy. But when everyone's doing it and promoting it in a more tasteful and fashionable way...then what?
This new pajama trend is becoming a hit in the fashion industry. Men and women are all experimenting with this trend. Pretty soon the world is going to look like one big sleepover.
I paired my Pajama pants with a simple black shirt, black heels, a fedora, my tan MK clutch, and cheetah sunnies.
I can see why everyone is going crazy over this trend. It's fun and really comfortable. However getting this trend right isn't easy. Here are a few celebs who I think are doing it best!
Caroline Sieber in Louis Vuitton. Rihanna in Pucci. Elisa Sednaoui in Salvatore Ferragamo.
I am always in love with Rashida Jones so I was not surprised when I fell in love with her pajama look. I love this Erdem set. I also adore how she pulled her hair back into a sleek style and brightened up her look with a bold lip.
Here are a few DO's and DONT's to achieving the PJ look:
DONTS:
- DONT wear flats; You want to avoid the "just rolled out of bed" look as much as possible. If you arent really a heel girl, opt for a shorter heel or a sandal. And instead of wearing full length pajama pants go for cropped pants.
- DONT go for the typical pajama fabrics. Stay away from the flannels. Like I said before you don't want to look like you literally just got of bed.
DO'S:
- DO take a chance and go for the sets that have bold colors and fun patterns.
- DO try one piece at a time if you aren't comfortable with the idea of wearing PJ's outside. Buy a set and wear it separately. Pair the top with some really basic yet cool ripped jeans one day, and rock the bottoms with a basic tee and some really cool accessories the next day.
- DO glam up your jewelry and/or make up. Go for a bold lips and fun clutches and earrings that will bring out the fun in the outfit.
- DO go for simple heels. Your shoes should always be sexy yet simple. Anything with an ankle strap is always a thumbs up
- DO have fun with it! don't take it do seriously. Remember everything in fashion is trial and error. Try it out, and if you love it and it works for you, then that's great! But if it doesn't work for you then that's okay also. Something else will come around and you'll be able to rock that!
