Le Intern.

Not sure if any of you are already aware, but last month I started my internship at PR Consulting back home in NYC. I work with the ACNE, Raf Simons, and Altuzarra team. So far in only a month it has been an interesting experience. The commute was deadly in the beginning but now that its become a routine it has gotten easier to deal with. With my internship being in Soho, it is no surprise how inspiring and "right at home" the environment is. The number of big name accounts that share the same building as PR Consulting is amazing. The other day I was standing in the elevator with Phillip Lim. Yeah, THE Phillip Lim. No need to worry though, I kept it very cool. I smiled and said good afternoon even though my heart was getting ready to jump out of my chest. Other than sharing elevator rides with legendary designers and being surrounded by amazing pieces from some popular brands, I am also learning a lot. I am learning just how fast things need to be done in the fashion industry when is comes to PR. I am learning how important it is to be able to understand and execute task in a way that not only shows that you understood what was asked of you but that you can go above and beyond to present it in the best way possible. I have learned that it isn't all glamorous. Even though that isn't a new lesson, I am seeing it first hand.  I have learned that everyone isn't going to speak to you, no matter how many times you pass them in the hallway or sit near them in the break room. Everyone isn't friendly. I have learned that it is okay to laugh and joke around during stressful and exhausting times. Laughter keeps me from using colorful language, and my humor seem to make the other interns laugh as well. I have learned that speaking up isn't being rude if done with nothing but respect. I have learned how to stop and just breathe. I have learned that everyday isn't going to be a  graceful strut down the runway. There are going to be times where you will be responsible for holding impossible props and walking in unimaginable shoes while maintaining your cool and appearing untouchable. Just make sure your strut leaves you remembered. And don't forget to breathe.
